Missouri Part 3: Little House on the Prairie

Well now comes my favorite part of our trip! We got to go to the Laura Ingalls Wilder museum in Mansfield! This is the place that she lived after her and Almanzo were married. Where she wrote the Little House books!! It was sooo cool! I've loved the little house books since the first time I read them! I think I've read about every book you can find about her!LOL

In the museum and the house you are not allowed to take any pictures. We got to see Pa's fiddle, some of the original manuscripts, letters written to her family, and tons more!

The house was so cool! No one has lived in the house after Laura died so everything in the house was exactly how she left it. The calendar hanging on the wall in the kitchen was even open to the month she died in.

Then we went to the house on Rocky Ridge, this was the house that Rose had built for them. She thought the farm house was to much for them to take care of. This is the place that Laura first started to write her books. They later moved back to the farm house.

We went to vist the grave sites of Almanzo, Laura and Rose.

Missouri Part 2: The Gateway Arch

Day 2 in Missouri we went to the Gateway Arch! We had tried to go the night before, but we got there 15min to late. The next morning we packed up the camper and headed into St Louis on the way to Mansfield. It was quite an adventure with the camper in the city:) You have to park all campers and bus on this road along the Mississippi. The river was flooding while we were there and they were closing all the roads going off of the road we were on! The only road open was this narrow little brick alley in old town St. Louis! It was quite interesting trying to drive the camper up that road

The Arch was a lot of fun! It was really busy there though. It rained so the pictures aren’t the best.

The flooded Mississippi!

The kids love Calvin and Hobes and we found this wall with a comic panted on it!
